Donor Story
Jennie Thompson was born in August of 1888 in Noble County to a family with one brother. She was a lifelong resident of Noble County and one of Ligonier’s biggest benefactors. Through the use of this fund, she has supported several projects in the Ligonier area. She passed away in 1978 in a nursing home, but her legacy continues with the Jennie Thompson Foundation Fund and the projects she helped complete.
Fund History
The Jennie Thompson Foundation Fund was established in January 1994 at the Noble County Community Foundation because of a match opportunity from the Lilly Endowment. The Jennie Thompson Foundation was a local private foundation and it was one of several private foundations that realized the importance of having a county wide community foundation within Noble County. The Jennie Thompson Foundation created this fund with “unrestricted” monies, allowing the community foundation to meet those every changing needs within Noble County through grants.
