When Can I Apply?
2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
Typically apply July 2024 to September 2024 at 11 pm. Dates to be determined.
2025 General Scholarship Application*
(for over 65 named scholarship opportunities for high school and college/adult students)
Apply November 25, 2024 to January 16, 2025
*Take the Eligibility Quiz to be matched with scholarships being offered. If matched, applicants must first complete the Main Application. If not matched, you are encouraged to complete the Main Application just in case other opportunities arise. Wide range of GPA’s can apply.
IMPORTANT: Complete the 2025 CFNC Main Application (this collects all your data in one place such as essays, references, academics, community service, etc.) and any named scholarships you are matched with (enter our ID# and answer any additional questions). This applies to any returning applicants and new applicants.
Julia Atz Scholarship (classical music performance or conducting)
Apply November 25, 2024 to May 2025.
Max and Elizabeth Roesler Memorial Scholarship (non-traditional adult)**
Apply November 25, 2024 to January 16, 2025 at 11 pm
**Note: If you are an adult applying for this scholarship and the General Scholarships you will need to submit two (2) references for the Max and Elizabeth Roesler Memorial Scholarship AND two (2) for the General Scholarship. They can be the same reference, but they will have to submit the forms twice.

How Your Scholarship Award Can Be Used?
Terms of Acceptance by the Educational Institution – These funds are to be used for tuition, books and academic fees for the educational benefit of the student(s) unless otherwise stated. Due to the charitable nature of our scholarship awards, funds may NOT be used for housing costs. Funds not used by the student for educational purposes within this academic year noted above should be refunded to the Community Foundation of Noble County by the educational institution.
Qualified Education Expenses – For purposes of the tuition and fees deduction, qualified education expenses are tuition and certain related expenses required for enrollment or attendance at an eligible educational institution. The Internal Revenue Service provides information about scholarships on their website at: https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc421.html.
Eligible Educational Institution– An eligible educational institution is any college, university, vocational school, or other post-secondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program administered by the U.S. Department of Education. It includes virtually all accredited public, nonprofit, and proprietary (privately owned profit-making) post-secondary institutions.
Expenses That Don’t Qualify:
Qualified education expenses don’t include amounts paid for:

- Insurance;
- Medical expenses (including student health fees);
- Room and board;
- Transportation; or
- Similar personal, living, or family expenses.

This is true even if the amount must be paid to the institution as a condition of enrollment or attendance.
How do I claim my scholarship?
To release payment to your school, please complete the acceptance form that is sent to your email address in early June.
Where can I send my thank-you notes?
Thank you card(s) can be sent to the Community Foundation of Noble County, Attention: name of your scholarship(s) to the address below. We will see that the donor/fund representative will receive the card and a copy is placed in your student file.

What if I need to decline my scholarship?
If you decide not to use a scholarship, you can mark the “decline” box on the scholarship acceptance form.
What if I need to defer my scholarship?
Yes, that is possible in most cases, however, please contact Jennifer@cfnoble.org or 260.894.3335 to discuss deferment.
