The following story comes from KPC News.
LIGONIER — The Community Foundation of Noble County has awarded a grant of $52,600 to St. Patrick Catholic Church, made possible through the G. Martin Kenney Fund, to support critical renovations to the church’s historic sanctuary.
Originally constructed in 1966 on a very minimal budget, the historical St. Patrick Catholic Church sanctuary will be updated with a complete remodel to include a reverent beautification of the architecture to enhance the spirituality of the church.
This investment honors the legacy of George Martin Kenney, a man whose life was defined by service, generosity, and quiet leadership. Born in 1905, Kenney was the son of a teacher and a successful businessman. Throughout his life, he was deeply involved in the Catholic Church, Scouting, and the arts. Though he never married or had children, his influence has rippled forward through time, culminating in this continued support for the community he loved, Ligonier.
The grant is part of the foundation’s broader mission to uplift local communities through thoughtful, purpose-driven philanthropy. This sanctuary project reflects the core values Kenney lived by: faith, dignity and service to others.
The legacy of G. Martin Kenney continues to shine through his enduring charitable vision. Each grant awarded from his fund stands as a testament to his commitment to community and serves as an inspiration for the impact philanthropy can create.
