2026 Julia L. Atz Scholarship Recipient Announcement
Community Foundation of Noble County Awards the 2025 Julia L. Atz Scholarship
Ligonier, IN — The Community Foundation of Noble County is proud to announce that Evelyn Theinert has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Julia L. Atz Scholarship established to honor a love of music and the transformative power of the arts.
Evelyn, a 2021 graduate of Concord Community High School in Elkhart, Indiana, is continuing her journey as a gifted harpist at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington. Having graduated in 2025 with her undergraduate degree, she will pursue a master’s degree in music performance this fall.
Evelyn’s accomplishments as a musician reflects extraordinary lifelong dedication, ranging from leadership as a student representative to international soloist performances, premiering over 50 works, and serving as principal harpist with ensembles from Indiana to Germany.
“My life has always revolved around music, having grown up in a musical family. I knew from the age of three that I loved and wanted to learn the harp,” said Evelyn. “For me, music has always been magic, and my hope is to pass that passion onto my audience… It is a true honor to have made my passion my career and to continue uplifting listeners and fellow musicians.”
The Julia L. Atz Scholarship, established in 2004 by the late John Atz in honor of his wife, celebrates a legacy of love for classical music and the arts. This marks the sixteenth time the scholarship has been awarded, reflecting an enduring commitment to supporting emerging musicians and honoring Julia Atz’s artistic spirit.
This scholarship is awarded to juniors, seniors, or post-graduate students pursuing careers in classical music performance or conducting, and maintaining a college GPA of 3.00 or above. Applicants are welcome to reapply. Preference is given to students from Indiana.
Scholarship applications for 2026 will open in late November 2025.
