2024 Julia L. Atz Scholarship Winner
It is with great pleasure the Community Foundation of Noble County announces the 2024 winner of the Julia L. Atz scholarship, Evelyn Theinert.
Evelyn will be continuing her education as a harpist at Indiana University in Bloomington, Jacobs School of Music. Evelyn will graduate from the Jacobs School of Music in 2025 and pursue her master’s degree in music performance in harp in the fall of 2025. Theinert is a 2021 graduate of Concord Community High School, Elkhart, Indiana.

Theinert shared, “My life has always revolved around music, having grown up in a musical family. I knew from the age of three that I loved and wanted to learn the harp. Though I started with piano and transitioned to the harp later, I had many career paths to choose from, whether it was becoming an architect, chef, or language translator. But in the end, my dream of pursuing music never changed, and it still hasn’t. I love playing the harp as much now as I did the first time I played a single scale.
I’m someone who thrives on challenges, and a life dedicated to music presents new ones every day. While a career in music comes with its difficulties, it also offers endless opportunities for innovation and collaboration. For me, music has always been magic, and my hope is to pass that passion onto my audience. Over the years, I’ve been deeply touched by the gratitude from those who have felt moved by my music. It is a true honor to have made my passion my career and to continue uplifting listeners and fellow musicians.”
The Julia L. Atz scholarship was established in 2004 by the late Mr. John Atz in honor of his wife. Mrs. Atz’s passion for music and the arts guided her family in establishing this scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of Noble County. This is the fifteenth year a scholarship has been awarded from the fund.
The scholarship is awarded to a senior or junior in college or a post-graduate student pursuing a career in classical music performance or conducting, and with a college GPA of 3.00 or above. Applicants can re-apply.
