Town of Albion Parks Department Permanent Restricted Fund

Donor Fund Story:

This fund, approved and accepted on January 1, 2011, was started by Casey Myers, the current Albion Parks Department Superintendent. He wanted to start this fund to provide enjoyable experiences in nature for the public.

Ten years since the grant was initiated, the fund has been able to create many enjoyable experiences for people of all ages. On hot summer days, children can splash around in one of the “top rated splash pads in Noble County and Tri-State area”. Hikers are sure to not get bored by the many walking trails, reaching “over 2 miles” in length. A top-rated disc golf course and fields for baseball, softball, and soccer are just a few of the many opportunities to play sports within the park. Not only can you get a whiff of fresh air, but you can also make great memories with your loved ones. Gatherings such as graduation parties, birthdays, and family reunions are commonplace at the parks and provide a great location to celebrate.

The grant has also allowed for the park to become more handicap accessible to its visitors. In 2020, they were able to build a new restroom at Hidden Diamond Park which follows the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. Myers and the parks departments are consistently working to provide an enjoyable outdoors experiences for all visitors.

For the future of the park, there are lengthy plans to develop the 40 acres of wetlands and create more trails.

According to Casey, “My absolute favorite thing about the Albion Parks is our part-time workers the make the park the best looking in the county”. They do an amazing job, especially considering the large expanse of areas they manage. In addition to the Albion Parks, they also manage Rose Hill Cemetery and every town lot in Albion, including the Town Hall and Fire Department”.
