The Community Foundation of Noble County announces the availability of the Julia L. Atz Scholarship.

This scholarship was created by the late Julia L. and her late husband, John Atz. The family continues to honor the legacy of music enthusiast Julia’s passion for music and the arts. We are pleased to assist in fulfilling her desire to share her passion for music.
This will be the thirteenth year the scholarship will be awarded to a college or a post-graduate student pursuing a career in classical music performance or conducting.
The Julia L. Atz Scholarship will award $2,500 in 2020 to a senior (or entering their senior year in the fall 2020) in college or a post-graduate student pursuing a career in classical music performance or conducting, and with a college GPA of 3.00 or above. An applicant can re-apply and receive financial support in ensuing or subsequent years. Preference will be given to applicants from Indiana. The application period is going on now to May 29, 2020 at 4 pm.

Welcome Brad Graden
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NOBLE COUNTY NAMES BRAD GRADEN AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Noble County is pleased to announce that it has named Mr. Brad Graden as its new Executive Director. After an extensive search, the Board is eager to welcome Graden to the organization later this month. Graden will follow former Executive Director, Jenna Ott, who recently resigned to pursue a new opportunity as the Vice President of Programs at the Dekko Foundation.
A graduate of East Noble High School, and a long-time resident of Noble County, Graden has served the community in a variety of roles. Currently, he works as a loan officer at Campbell & Fetter Bank. Before joining Campbell & Fetter, Graden coordinated professional development for the Huntington County Community School Corporation, worked as the Director of Quality Programs & Assessment at Central Noble, and spent a short time as the Executive Director of the Cole Center Family YMCA.
Graden has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wabash College, a Master of Science degree in Economics from Purdue University, and a Teaching Certificate from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne.
“As a long-time resident of Noble County, I am aware of the important role the foundation plays in our community. I am honored to have been selected for this position and look forward to collaborating with others in our effort to make Noble County a great place to live, work and play.”

Graden, and his wife Kelly, live in Kendallville and have two sons, Lucas and Jacob. Graden is also the current Board President of the Cole Center Family YMCA, a member of the THRIVE Noble County Steering Committee, Treasurer of the Kendallville Redevelopment Commission, a committee member with Activate Noble County, and a former member of the Community Foundation’s Investment Committee.
A welcome reception for Graden will be organized and held at a later date.

2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Interviews – Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 6 pm at the Community Foundation of Noble County, 1599 Lincolnway South, Ligonier IN.

- Students should arrive between 5:30 pm and 5:45 pm. Please do not arrive sooner than 5:30 pm.
- Students should dress appropriate for the interview as if it is for a job. Interviews will start at 6 pm with the six judges. Interviews may last until 9 pm. If you have a school obligation that evening, please let us know as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your need to leave early.
- Feel free to park in front of the building around the circle drive – just pull your vehicle over to the side so other cars can pass.
- Student’s don’t need to prepare anything in advance. You will know the answers to the questions we ask.
- Light snacks and sandwiches will be available before or after for students. However, feel free to eat something before you arrive.
- Please bring a photo/senior photo with your name, contact information, college major, college choice (if known) with you. If you do not have one, a group photo will be taken and we can take a head shot that evening. If you forget to bring one, that is okay. You can mail or email it to us.

Welcome Hailey!
We are excited to announce Hailey Meyer will be working at the community foundation office this summer. She is a 2019 graduate of East Noble High School. While in high school she participated in Bi-Phy-Chem, 4-H and the Noble County Horse and Pony Club, National Honor Society, Kendallville Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, and the State of Indiana Aim Youth Advisory Council just to name a few. She will be studying chemistry and political science at St. Mary’s of Notre Dame this fall.
When asked about what she is looking forward to at college she stated, “I look forward to really digging into fields I am passionate about, I cannot wait.” Some of her strengths include that she is a people person and she can make a mean batch of chocolate chip cookies! Chocolate chip cookies Hailey? The staff accepts your challenge!
She added “I am really excited to get to know the amazing donors and serving those in the community!”

Summer Intern Position
The Community Foundation of Noble County is Hiring!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, the Community Foundation of Noble County seeks to hire an intern for the summer. The job description for this eight-week, paid position is attached.
Who should apply?
The ideal applicant will have a heart for serving the community. The individual will have crazy good organization skills and an eye for opportunities to make our work more efficient. Knowledge or interest in marketing/communication projects is a plus. The ideal applicant will be at least 16 years of age (driver’s license preferred but not required), and must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
What else should I know?
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. This is a paid, hourly position that will last for up to eight weeks. A few evening and weekend hours may be required.

Christina Coats Awarded David O. Kile and Marjorie B. Kile Scholarship
Congratulations to Christina Coats of Wawaka for receiving the David O. Kile and Marjorie B. Kile Scholarship. Christina is studying Math Education and Dance.
Longtime residents of Noble County, David O. and Marjorie B. Kile have dedicated their lives to making a difference, and giving back. As a retired teacher, Marjorie has seen first-hand the difference a scholarship can make when awarded to a student in search of higher learning, regardless of age. David and Marjorie know that as a traditional or non-traditional student, access to higher education can be difficult. Thanks to the generosity of the Kile’s, this fund is an opportunity for both traditional students and non-traditional students to pursue their dream.
The David O. Kile and Marjorie B. Kile Scholarship is available to any Noble County resident who is at least 19 years of age with a high school diploma, or GED, in pursuit of higher education in a field of their choice. This scholarship is available to applicants planning to attend, or are currently enrolled, either full-time or part-time, in an accredited vocational school, or two-year or four-year college or university. The award is given one time, with no restriction on applying in subsequent years.
