Dear Friends,
I want to make sure you are aware of some exciting Noble County news that took place over the past few weeks. First, the Noble County Economic Development Corporation was awarded a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. The EDC received over $95,000 to help fund a micro-grant program that will target at-risk small county businesses. Second, the United Way of Noble County (UWNC) received a $275,000 COVID-19 Economic Relief Initiative grant, which will benefit area human and social service nonprofits.
The citizens of Noble County are fortunate to have organizations such as the Noble County EDC and UWNC in their corner. CFNC has been asked to partner with both organizations through their application review process. It is these types of collaborative opportunities that will make us a stronger community moving forward. As we move on from these troubled times, CFNC will continue to look for new opportunities to collaborate with these key county organizations for the betterment of our community.

Students Interviewed for 2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
The Community Foundation of Noble County recently interviewed ten top honor students in the final phase of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship nomination process for Noble County. These students were selected to interview based on their applications submitted in August to the community foundation which were reviewed by a panel of judges representing the central, east and west part of Noble County.
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship provides four years of full-tuition and required fees awarded to one well-rounded high school senior who resides in Noble County, who will receive a diploma from an accredited Indiana high school by the end of June 2020, and will pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. Community Foundation of Noble County also requires community service, volunteerism, extra-curricular activities, leadership roles and honors and awards and at least a 3.80 high school grade point average.

Names of the top candidates will be submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc for final selection of the recipient. ICI is a nonprofit organization that represents 30 regionally accredited, degree-granting, nonprofit, private colleges and universities in the state. The Noble County recipient of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship will be announced in early December 2019. Finalists not selected for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Community Foundation of Noble County
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships are the result of a statewide Lilly Endowment initiative to 1) to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana; 2) to increase awareness of the beneficial roles Indiana community foundations can play in their communities; and 3) to encourage and support the efforts of current and past Lilly Endowment Community Scholars to engage with each other and with Indiana business, governmental, educational, nonprofit and civic leaders to improve the quality of life in Indiana generally and in local communities throughout the state. A total of 143 Lilly scholarships are awarded statewide.

Community Foundation of Noble County
The Community Foundation of Noble County seeks to hire a dynamic, community and people-oriented servant leader to take the work of the foundation to the next level. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in the areas of project management, resource development, outstanding customer service and community building.
Purpose of the Position: The Executive Director (ED) reports directly to and works in partnership with the Board of Directors (the “Board”) and operates under the general direction of the Board, within the policies established by the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, policies and guidelines as duly adopted, and consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law. It is important to note that this job description is subject to change as deemed necessary by the Board for effective pursuit and achievement of the Community Foundation’s mission, vision and strategic plan.
The Executive Director provides professional leadership in partnership with the Board to accomplish CFNC’s mission and vision; supervises and oversees the day-to-day operations, growth and development of the Community Foundation; administers the implementation of Board policies and plans toward the accomplishment of CFNC goals; employs sound business practices; is prudent, ethical, honest and efficient in all actions and decisions made on behalf of the Community Foundation. The ED also serves as ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board and Executive Committee.

The Community Foundation of Noble County seeks a full-time, Financial Coordinator. The Financial Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day tracking of financial transactions. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, demonstrated experience in accounting, and a heart for serving the community. The Financial Coordinator works with staff, donors, committees, and board members to ensure the Foundation’s assets are stewarded to the highest standard.
EDUCATION
A high school diploma is required. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Financial Coordinator

Description of Position:
The Financial Coordinator of the Community Foundation of Noble County is a salaried, full-time exempt position, that requires an average of 37.5 hours of work weekly. The Financial Coordinator is responsible for many of the Foundation’s day-to-day accounting activities. This position supports the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, and income and expense reports. The Financial Coordinator supports the oversight of the operating budget and sends routine fund statements. This position works collaboratively with auditors, staff, and Board members.

2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Application
The application period for the 2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is now to August 28, 2019 at 11 pm.
The Community Foundation of Noble County administers many different scholarships to help students achieve their educational dreams. Other scholarships are also available to apply for, though the list typically changes from year to year, other scholarships are generally offered mid-November through January, with a few exceptions. The scholarships awarded are to be used for tax-exempt college expenses, excluding housing or transportation unless otherwise stated. A student awarded or declining the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is not eligible for any other scholarships offered through the Community Foundation of Noble County.
2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Criteria: Four years of full tuition and required fees awarded to one well-rounded high school senior who resides in Noble County, that will receive a diploma from an accredited Indiana high school by the end of June 2020, and will pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited public or private nonprofit college or university in Indiana. Students must achieve a high school grade point average of at least 3.80 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application. Students need to be well-rounded seniors through their community service, volunteerism and extracurricular activities and work experience as well as leadership roles.
*NOTE: Top Honor Finalists for this scholarship will be posted on our website www.CFNoble.org on Friday, October 4, 2019 and your interview, if selected, will be Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 6 pm at the Community Foundation of Noble County located at 1599 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Those selected to interview should arrive at the community foundation between 5:30 pm and 5:45 pm.

Scholarship Deadline for General Scholarships is Jan. 15, 2019 at 4 pm
The scholarship deadline for General Scholarships is approaching on January 15, 2019 at 4 pm.
The Community Foundation of Noble County is home to over 60 unique scholarships ranging from career choice, college attending and high school attending just to name a few.
Because each scholarship is unique, applicants should follow the link below to be directed to the scholarship information page on our website. From there applicants can read more about getting started and creating an account to begin the process.
When applying to the General Scholarships being offered November – January, students are asked to complete the Master Application. This application collects the bulk of the applicant’s information such as academics, career/college choice, three required essays, community service/volunteer service, extra curricular activities/work experience and two references.
Most of the named scholarships simply ask applicants to enter the ID number. Some will ask an additional question or have an extra essay to complete.
The bulk of the applicant’s information is only gathered one time. When the applicant enters the ID number for the named scholarships, this tells the system, “include my information in the pool of applicants.”
Otherwise, applicants would be entering their academics, career/college choice, etc. each time for each scholarship.
The system will not let a student submit an application if a required question/field is left incomplete.
The Julia L. Atz Scholarship Application period is early spring to April 30, 2019. The Julia L. Atz Scholarship will award $2,500 in the fall to a senior (or entering their senior year in the fall) in college or a post-graduate student pursuing a career in classical music performance or conducting, and with a college GPA of 3.00 or above. An applicant can re-apply and receive financial support in ensuing or subsequent years. Preference will be given to applicants from Indiana. Deadline to apply is 4 pm on April 30, 2019.
