Donor Fund Story:
Bill and Marilyn Emmert are both deeply involved in their community, and now they feel it’s time to leave a legacy.
In December 2021, the couple established the Marilyn and Bill Emmert Fund at the Community Foundation of Noble County to share some of the blessings they received. Plus, they had a little help from a friend.
“We were both friends and supporters of Dave Knopp who firmly believed people should give back to the community,” said the couple.
Knopp, the former Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Noble County, passed away in 2008, but the Emmert’s still continue to support and appreciate the Foundation’s work.
“As years pass, we hope the fund can have benefits for young people that have good ethics and are willing to work and help in our local community,” they said.
Marilyn was born and raised in Shipshewana, graduating from Shipshewana/Scott High School. Bill grew up in Wawaka, Indiana, graduating from Wawaka High School. The two were married on September 25, 1966. Most recently, their lives have been filled with spending time kayaking on the Elkhart River with their grandchildren and visiting Indiana State Parks. They are also involved in the community through Albion Trinity Church, Albion Lions Club, Augusta Hills Community Center, Habitat for Humanity, Growing Hope Globally, and Fullers Center.
