Noble County Public Library Permanent Fund

Donor Fund Story:

The Noble County Public Library Permanent Endowment Fund was established in June 2000 with the Agency Fund established in November 2004. The purpose of these funds was to provide stable funding for the library that does not rely on tax revenues. The Noble County Library funds are invested by the community foundation to provide a permanent source of income. These funds were started to ensure the long term financial stability of the Library so that it can work toward self sustainability and have less reliance on tax revenues.

The library offers programs and resources to all ages and in numerous formats on almost any topic imaginable. As our endowment funds grow, we are able to provide more and more programs, activities, and resources without increasing revenues from taxes. We truly want the funds to grow and have consciously avoided spending any of the revenues. Periodically we have special programs or facility improvement projects that we are unable to completely fund within our existing budget and it is wonderful that we can turn to the revenues from our endowment funds to help with those. This allows us to provide the best service and facilities without adding to the tax burden of those we serve.

The long term goal of these funds is to have a permanent source of revenue for the library to ensure that it is able to provide educational and business opportunities and resources as well as community programming and personal recreational resources for many generations to come. Libraries have been in existence for hundreds of years and have always adapted to the changing needs of society. Our future is truly exciting as we are once again adapting to those changing needs. We are needed now more than ever to help ensure all Noble County residents have access to the technology and resources needed to function in today’s (and tomorrow’s) high tech society. We offer a place for community to come together for collaboration and networking on new ideas. We offer a place for individuals to discover and explore our world using both tech and non-tech resources. We are the place where ALL are welcome and feel at home regardless of age, race, educational background, or economic status. With your help in building our permanent funds, we will be able to provide the services your families will want and need for generations to come.

The Community Foundation of Noble County has our county’s future in its hands. We appreciate the services they provide to organizations and individuals throughout the county and know that the decisions made are in the best interests of our entire county without regard to race, location, socio-economic status, or political influence.
